It's the year 2045, and a political faction calling itself the United Collegiate or "UC" has seized control of the world government. The UC seeks to implement extreme policies, such as monthly STAR testing from kindergarten and six hours of homework nightly. Another political faction calling itself the Vocational Alliance or "VA" fiercely opposes these measures. The VA wants to do away with homework, along with all math and science courses, and they consider college a waste of tax money. The UC and VA's differences have driven them to civil war.
Lance Carter is a top scientist at a prestigious UC research center, but when he develops a revolutionary new technology, he and his friends get caught up in the struggle between the UC and VA. It may only be with the help of an obscure third political faction, calling itself the Society for Non-Conformists, that Lance and his friends may avoid the UC and VA crossfire.
